Could you be the Director of NICE Scientific Advice? You will be ready to lead the department into the future, creating a compelling and exciting story to share with the world, driving future growth of this newly established commercial business unit. The business unit is currently operated within NICE and we are actively considering the establishment of a charitable foundation closely linked to NICE and, if established, anticipate delivering NICE Scientific Advice from the foundation.
With full control of all aspects of business development, management, project delivery, governance and leadership, your background and experience in health technology assessment (HTA) from an HTA agency, life sciences industry or consultancy setting will empower you to deliver great results on behalf of NICE and its partners.
The NICE Scientific Advice team is split across Manchester and London offices and many business activities require international travel. As well as overseeing all the work done within the business unit, the role involves a high degree of strategic interaction with the life sciences industry and national bodies both within the UK and internationally.
It will be your responsibility to steer the business unit to achieve its targets for growth and global influence whilst managing the pressures of working in a highly unpredictable and complex environment.
•Achieving annual business targets set by the NICE Scientific Advice Management Board
•Maintaining the highest standards of advice to clients through the various NICE Scientific Advice services and ensuring robust operation within the agreed governance framework.
•Working with the members of the NICE Scientific Advice Management Board
•Playing a key role in the strategic development of the business unit, identifying new opportunities and developing the portfolio of consulting services including those delivered in collaboration with external partners such as EMA, MHRA, EUNetHTA, the FDA, other public sector bodies and potentially commercial organisations (CROs, investment and consulting companies).
•The Director of NICE Scientific Advice is also responsible for continuing to raise the profile of the business unit with the client base of manufacturers of healthcare products such that there is increasing demand for consultancy services.
We are looking for a driven, ambitious individual who possesses natural leadership and management skills and can inspire and work with a multidisciplinary team to continue to deliver world-class services.
You should have advanced technical knowledge of healthcare product development, clinical trials and/or health economics.
You will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, along with a flair for influencing and affecting the evolving landscape putting the business unit in a position to flourish.
You should have an open-minded and flexible approach to work whilst being able to set a strategic direction swiftly and decisively.
