Novo A/S has appointed Kasim Kutay as its new CEO. Kasim started his career at Morgan Stanley, where he spent 18 years advising mainly healthcare companies. He is currently co-head of Europe at Moelis & Company and also serves on the bank's management committee. Novo A/S is a private limited liability company wholly owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. It is the holding company in the Novo Group and responsible for managing the Foundation's assets.
Envigo has appointed Dr Adrian Hardy as president and CEO. Adrian joined Envigo in 2002 and has held various roles of increasing responsibility in sales, strategic marketing and operations, most recently serving as COO. He will also join the company's board of directors. In related moves, Brian Cass, the previous CEO, will become executive chairman, and Andrew Baker, the previous chairman, will become chairman emeritus and remain a board member.
Amryt Pharma, which is focused on treatments for orphan diseases, has appointed Markus Ziener as non-executive director. Markus is currently chief financial officer of Software AG Stiftung, which he joined in 2013 as a director of asset management. Prior to joining Software AG Stiftung, a 20.9 percent shareholder in Amryt, he worked in a number of senior roles across a broad range of industries.
Virgo Health has appointed Nicole Burns as social media strategist and Paul Andrews as head of design. Both will sit within the ‘Virgo Pharmacy’ – a creative studio for Virgo’s digital, design and innovation content. Joining from digital marketing agency Spinnaker, Nicole has deep expertise in social media strategy and implementation of complex paid for and organic social media campaigns, as well as advanced social listening and analytics skills. Paul joins from Ogilvy Healthworld and brings nearly 10 years’ experience working across a broad portfolio of healthcare campaigns in PR, advertising and medical education.
90TEN has made five new hires to enhance its medical education division. Mandi Watty-Miller (pictured) joins 90TEN as a senior account director following nearly five years at Ogilvy Healthworld, where she specialised in global med comms. Laura Penfold joins as an account manager after a two-year stint at Ogilvy Healthworld. Prior to Ogilvy, Laura started her career at health and tech specialist agency Say Communications. Sasha Walton joins 90TEN as an assistant account executive, having recently graduated with an MSc in psychology from King's College London, where she also edited and wrote for the university magazine, The Looking Glass. The medical education division also adds senior medical writer Niall Murphy and editorial assistant Daniel Warder.
UK-based antifungal drug discovery and development company F2G has named Ralf Schmid as CFO. Ralf brings over 20 years' experience to F2G, with considerable expertise in M&A, licensing, public and private market transactions. He joins from Nabriva Therapeutics AG, where he served on the management board since the company's inception in 2006. In his role as CFO and COO, Ralf was instrumental in taking the company public on NASDAQ in September 2015. He has held various senior positions in finance and administration at several multinational companies including Sandoz.
Feng Zhang will join PureTech as a member of the Company’s scientific advisory board. Feng has pioneered the development of genome editing tools for use in eukaryotic cells – including human cells – from natural microbial CRISPR systems. The company has also appointed Jeff Stevens as vice president of growth strategy and operations and has expanded its team of senior advisors to include Meghan Fitzgerald, executive vice president of corporate strategy, M&A and Health Policy at Cardinal Health; Atul Pande, former senior vice president and head of neurosciences at GlaxoSmithKline; and Philip Larsen, global head of diabetes research and development at Sanofi.
Alison Wheeler, formerly the head of customer insight and multichannel communications at Pfizer, has joined the management team at Loooped Unlimited as associate director. With nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, Alison's talent, experience and drive will evolve the company's offer further. "I feel privileged such a rare talent has decided that her mission to raise the standards of customer experience across and beyond our industry aligns with ours."
Dr Antonio Palumbo has joined Takeda as distinguished research fellow for oncology. In this newly created role, Antonio will provide medical and scientific advice to the organisation, help to establish patient-focused scientific programmes for the organisation and oversee post-approval research. Antonio has over 26 years experience in haematology and oncology cancer research. Before joining Takeda he was director of the myeloma unit at the University of Torino’s haematology department.
Arquer Diagnostics, a diagnostic company which has developed a high sensitivity, high specificity, ELISA-based urine test for cancer, has appointed Louise Flintoft to the post of product manager. Louise has over 10 years’ sales and marketing experience in the biotech and companion diagnostic industries, and has led global product marketing and launch campaigns, across Europe and the US. In-house experience includes roles with Leica Biosystems, Vision BioSystems and Novacastra Laboratories.
Quality Context has appointed Chris Strong as quality manager. Chris' vast experience will ensure that the company's compliance record remains pristine. Also recently appointed is Debbie Edwards (centre) who has joined to support the operations department as an operations assistant. Finally, Angela Saccomando has joined the laboratory team as an analytical chemist, testing some of the world's best-known brands.
Healthcare communications company Life has made three new appointments. Chris Owens joins as associate creative director from CDM, where he was deputy creative director with a great mix of consumer and healthcare experience. Catriona Hampton (right) has been promoted from head of copy to associate creative director. Cat has been with Life now for over 2 years and has made her mark in motivating and inspiring the creative team and pushing them to the next level. Chris and Cat will jointly head up Life's Creative department. Finally, Kerry Stevenson has joined the company as a copywriter, bringing with her a fantastic mix of science knowledge and creative knowhow.
